Sarah Snyder
A trained mediator and theologian, specialising in inter-religious peace-building, Sarah brings wide-ranging international experience in situations of violent conflict. She has worked for many years to promote faith-based reconciliation, and is Founding Director of the Rose Castle Foundation – equipping the next generation of leaders to act across some of the world’s most challenging divides. She and her team now support communities and student campuses facing disagreement and conflict within their institutions and societies.
Sarah co-lectures “Religion, Violence and Peacebuilding” at St John’s College, Durham and teaches at New York University in Abu Dhabi. Previously, she served as the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Special Advisor for Reconciliation – supporting the Anglican Church to be an agent of peace in conflict and post-conflict contexts. She was Director of Partnerships at Religions for Peace International, and directed the Cambridge University International Summer Schools for Muslim, Christian and Jewish leaders from conflict zones. Her frontline work stretches across Africa, the Middle East and SE Asia. In her earlier career, she was a documentary producer for BBC Television. During this time, she and her husband lived with the Tuareg nomads in the Sahara Desert, northern Mali, whilst filming a multimedia programme for European schools featuring the multi-cultural diversity and interaction of people within the Sahelian region.
